Mr. Doherty holds a Bachelor of Music Business degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, and the prestigious Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation awarded by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). For more than a decade, he has served in key leadership roles for a variety of non-profit societies and trade associations in the health profession, the arts, transportation, utilities and real estate, always with an emphasis on membership operations and customer service. He has a strong sales and marketing background from earlier professional experiences, having worked with for-profit and non-profit organizations.

Mr. Doherty is a member of ASAE and a volunteer with ASAE's CAE Action Council, and served on the Greater Washington Society of Association Executive's Emerging Leaders Advisory Council in 2003 and 2004. He has also contributed to the ASAE Research In Action SuperTrends discussion and is author of "The Decision to Join, From A Corporate Perspective".

Peter currently resides in Herndon, VA, just outside Washington, DC, and is happily married with three children. He enjoys tennis, cycling and basketball, spending quality time with his wife (it happens now and then!), and cheering his kids on at various sporting events. He also continues to fine-tune his musical skills, so if there's a karaoke bar at the next Marketplace, watch out…
